Spring 2023 Public Policy Conference Program
We are pleased to announce the theme for the Helm’s School of Government’s annual policy conference: Promise of the Declaration: Building on the Legacy of "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of the Happiness." In our Declaration of Independence, America’s Founders put to paper words that expressed the fundamental desire of a freedom-loving people yearning for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Our Founders’ vision arose from their understanding that our natural rights come not from monarchs, principalities, or governments, but from God and from their understanding that these rights could only be guaranteed through a system based upon self-government, free enterprise, and the Rule of Law. Sponsored by the Helms School of Government and the Journal of Statesmanship & Public Policy, this conference will focus on both the legacy and the future of this bold promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
