Juried Art - 3-D

Description

This sculpture demonstrates a conceptual display of world development and the ability of physical assets to support overall story development. The overall research question involves how one can support a story development and create tools to develop and communicate the concepts of the story. In creating this diorama, it demonstrates how building a structure such as this, a person can take two-dimensional ideas into three dimensions, and how it can advance the development of the story world. The creation of this display involved researching locations, cultures, building methods, and many more aspects. The methodology of the research was a combination of studying previous methods from others, gathering personal resources, and experimenting with different techniques. Through the utilization of creative and technical design processes, the diorama successfully communicates the story world and reflects the research that went into it. Overall, the project demonstrates a whole pipeline of work, from source collecting to ideation to creation. Finally, this project can be expanded upon with the development of illustrations, 3D models from world expansion, comics, and more. This diorama is a starting point for more experimentation with different mediums and can be utilized to grow both the storyline it displays and art processes in general.
