Abstract
The problem is that few recent studies have examined dialogic communication on social media platforms, especially Facebook. The purpose of this qualitative research is to explore the dialogic communication principles of the American aviation sector. The rationale for this research is that 99% of American aviation institutions have a Facebook platform to communicate with the public. These institutions must listen to the public's needs regarding the principles of dialogical communication. Examining aviation institutions' use of dialogical principles is a lens into the strengths and weaknesses of aviation institutions' messages on Facebook. Recent studies have shown a lack of research addressing dialogical communication on Facebook despite the platform's popularity. The central research question for this study is, what are the principles of dialogic communication used by the United States aviation sector through Facebook pages? The qualitative design used a content analysis that consisted of dialogic communication principles, and the sample was 23 American airline companies and 20 international public airports. Data were analyzed using themes and codes to explain the texts, content, and meaning.
