Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how biblically-based songs can serve as aids to women who have overcome or are overcoming rejection. The research employs a hermeneutic phenomenological approach, in which interviews, in vivo coding, reflection, interpretation, and biblical analysis explore how biblically-based songs provide or have provided aid to Christian Hispanic Women. Interviews question women about their experiences and how they cope with rejection, the importance of the Word of God, and biblically-based songs, capturing the history and healing process and transformation of the participants. Worship leaders and worship ministries will be educated, exhorted, and challenged in the selections of worship songs. Worship songs that are empowered by the Word of God can impart healing to those who have suffered from rejection. The analysis of the responses to the interview questions shows that cultivating a relationship with God, studying and applying Scripture, and singing biblically-based songs have aided Christian Hispanic Women in healing from rejection. Data from this research provides a starting point for further research in biblically-based, vocal psychotherapy.
