Abstract
This doctoral research project addresses the need for enhanced youth engagement within the Salem Seventh-day Adventist Church. The study aims to identify and implement strategies to foster participation and commitment among youth members. Key goals include assessing current engagement levels, identifying barriers to participation, exploring preferred formats for involvement, and evaluating church leadership's role in youth engagement.
A multi-method approach was used, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods. Data collection involved a Likert Questionnaire to gauge youth engagement levels, pilot testing to refine the questionnaire, and focus group discussions for in-depth insights. Quantitative data identified trends and patterns, while thematic analysis provided qualitative insights.
Findings highlight critical areas for improvement, including the need for youth-centric programs, better language accessibility, increased use of digital platforms, and greater youth involvement in decision-making processes. Visual recommendations address these areas to enhance youth engagement.
This thesis project can influence other ministry fields by providing a model for evaluating and improving youth engagement strategies. Sharing the findings through Digital Commons allows other churches to adopt similar approaches to foster an inclusive and engaged youth community.
In summary, this research contributes to the broader field of ministry by offering practical solutions to enhance youth engagement, ultimately supporting the church's mission to nurture the spiritual well-being of its younger members and ensuring their active and long-term participation in the church community.
