Abstract
This study aims to examine the impact of social service activities of the church on the image and evangelism of the church in the community, and to find a method of spreading the Gospel effectively. Various causes for the stagnation of Korean church are mentioned and discussed, but it is determined that the most fundamental reason is the dilution of the essence of the church. Thus, this researcher will reveal the appropriateness of “the doctrine of the local church” by summing up the doctrine of the church appearing in the flow of history based on the biblical doctrine of the church and by analyzing and synthesizing the doctrine. This researcher carried out social service activities from the first year of his appointment in Myung-gok Church until the present and found that the local residents’ evaluations of the church improved, which helped improve evangelism and led to bearing fruit for church revival. Consequently, the researcher will investigate the pivotal role of the church’s social service activities and how they play into the image and evangelism of the church. The researcher hopes to provide practical help to eager pastors through a social service activities program and its manual.
