Abstract
My thesis is my faith journey. Starting with my artist statement I tell the process I wrote the poems I included. My artist statement also mentions stories that were part of the process but were not included in the final draft. For my critical paper I referenced stories of people who have had their own faith journey to find who they are and how they belief. Some of the people in the stories kept the faith they grew up with; others left their childhood beliefs and found their own faith journey. They each progressed and led lives that could help and strengthen others.
The poetry I included in my manuscript writes of faith, hardship, betrayal, adventure – not the adventure of the great outdoors but of life: the fun and excitement that life can bring. There’s the whimsical poetry that reminds me of poems by Shel Silverstein – they may not be of his caliber but inspired by him. The poetry is the real and hyperbole of my life.
