Abstract
The following work is a collection of research, drafting, and final creative production to be submitted in completion of the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing degree from Liberty University. I have included an artist statement, which recounts my background as an artist, my inspiration for the creative manuscript that will be submitted for the final thesis, my goals with the final thesis, and my outlooks on this particular work as a Christian scholar. Following the artist statement is my critical research paper, where I explore the ways in which setting, as a craft element, strengthens other elements of writing, including character development, pacing, and theme. The final piece is my creative manuscript, which includes the first one hundred pages of my fictional work in progress, The Blade of Days. This collection of work is meant to demonstrate my learning and achievement throughout this advanced degree program at Liberty University.
