Abstract

Much of modern scholarship believes that Jesus only fulfilled the spring feasts of Israel during His First Coming and will fulfill the fall feasts in His Second Coming. This thesis argues that this view is mistaken; instead, the biblical and historical evidence points towards Jesus already fulfilling both the spring and fall feasts during His First Coming: (1) Trumpets with His birth on September 29, 2 BCE (and Herod the Great's death on January 27, 1 BCE); (2) the Day of Atonement with His spiritual baptism on October 6, 29 CE and physical baptism on October 14, 29 CE; (3) Tabernacles with His appearance in Jerusalem on October 11, 29 CE and temptations from October 14-November 24, 29 CE; (4) Passover with His death on April 3, 33 CE; (5) Unleavened Bread with His resting in the tomb and descension into Hades on April 4, 33 CE; (6) Firstfruits with His resurrection on April 5, 33 CE; and (7) Weeks with His sending of the Holy Spirit on May 24, 33 CE. Also, it will be discussed how the biblical evidence points towards Jesus' fulfillment of each feast for a second and third time in the future.
