Abstract
Political debates are sometimes accompanied by soul-searching. This is particularly the case in respect to the legacies of treatment of African Americans and Native Americans in U.S. history. However, soul-searching can also be manipulated into political buzzwords like settler colonialism, cultural genocide, and Manifest Destiny. In Not Stolen, Jeff Fynn-Paul evenhandedly relates historical facts about Native American history. This review then fits his facts into an analysis of the Divine hand in settler-Native American interactions.
