Abstract

Securing critical minerals will prove essential to protecting America’s energy security and national defense. China currently dominates the mining and production of critical minerals. Given the unpredictability of U.S.-China relations, it is necessary to develop alternative supply chains. The U.S. should prioritize domestic production of critical minerals and supplement demand with imports from countries more friendly than China.
