Abstract

The landscape of media production and consumerization is evolving with the ushering in of an increasingly digital era. Print newspapers are declining, digital media is delivered faster than ever and social platforms are gaining dominance. The evolution of the industry challenges the role of local news organizations and the ethics they are built upon. Not only have the modes of news collection and delivery changed, but the core perceptions and relationship between the media and public are shifting. This thesis seeks to understand how the digitalization of media and integration of artificial intelligence into digital journalism affect public trust, particularly on the local level, through the discourse of public research and application of media ethics to the modern era.
