Abstract
The Select Congressional Committee investigating January 6, justified much of its action on factual claims that President Trump encouraged a violent effort to prevent the peaceful transfer of power. This claim is unsupported, and the action of the committee involved unprecedented efforts violating citizen privacy while mining information for the weaponized Biden Department of Justice. Moreover, the legal actions and challenges of the 2020 election supported by President Trump mirrored the actions of democratic party allies in their opposition to Trump’s election in 2016. My paper outlines the errors of the January 6 committee and the parallels between Trump 2020 election challenges and the left’s 2016 election challenges. Public understanding of the issues outlined in this paper is necessary to prevent any future abuse of power and to develop appropriate and effective policy changes which promote election transparency, accountability, and inclusion. The paper relies on investigative work I led as Director of the Amistad Project, my personal interaction with the J6 Committee members of Congress, and legal allies of President Trump.
Weaponization of Election Law
