Abstract

The veracity of the biblical text has been attacked throughout the ages. The arguments formulated and asserted by non-believing scholars cast doubt that the words written by the original biblical authors have been preserved. Consequently, the argument follows that if the text has been corrupted or lost then it can further be implied that God has failed to preserve His Word. Sadly, these arguments can easily overwhelm a professing Christian as many are ignorant in the methods and process of biblical preservation and transmission. By examining the abundance of extant manuscripts recovered through the centuries it can be ascertained that God through His providence has provided a unique method to safeguard His words throughout history.

This paper seeks to examine the method of textual preservation through the provision of historical manuscripts and identifies common misconceptions about preservation. In developing an understanding of the manuscript evidence, the reader will be able to answer the skeptic and demonstrate that God has indeed preserved His Word.
