The Prevalence of Sugar Addiction and Family History of Substance Abuse

Converging evidence suggests that over consumption of sugar engages similar neural pathways as drugs of abuse, and therefore, should be considered an addictive substance. The present study will examine the prevalence of sugar addiction among college students as well as possible genetic predispositions to drug abuse as measured by family history of alcohol use.
