This paper covers the subject of persecuted Christians in Pennsylvania during the Revolutionary War. These Christians were nonresistant (such as the Mennonites, Amish, Quakers, etc.). It is a subject not often covered in studies of the American Revolution. However, it deserves much more attention for the impact it could have on religious freedom today. If Christians were not always free to follow their own convictions when the War for Independence broke out, how much more could religious freedom be in jeopardy when conflict continues to worsen today? As a supplement, it includes limited coverage of how Christians were persecuted during future wars if they refused to join the military and take up arms for religious reasons.
