Abstract
Oil is an integral part of the world economy and the lives of the people that depend on it as a major source of energy. The companies that comprise the oil industry, therefore, wield power and influence in the world. Transocean, an oil exploration and drilling company, is the world’s leading provider of contract drilling services. An in-depth look at the oil industry includes industry operations, and industry and macroenvironmental trends. The demand shifters of the industry are evaluated, as well as Transocean’s ability to respond to those demand shifters. This leads to a proposed marketing plan for Transocean, including specific actions to take in utilizing the Integrated Marketing Communications Mix.
