Abstract
While there are rational people with good intensions on both sides of this debate, affirmative action in employment may perpetuate the very racism it seeks to remedy. This thesis will begin by giving a brief historic perspective of affirmative action, analyze several of the key arguments supporting and opposing the policy, and conclude by summarizing the key areas of conflict on which the debate centers. The topic will be limited to affirmative action as it exists today in employment and promotion practices.
